Lecture 10am-11am (Free with Registration)
Potting Workshop ($20 for plants and supplies)
Learn to create beautiful balcony gardens, with plants suitable for South Florida. Maria Teresa will discuss plants that do well in our coastal region, plants tolerant to salt, wind and shade. You will learn the basics of container gardening and caring for the container plants in the balcony. She will help you to choose the right plant for the right place.
Following the talk, you are invited to join her on a special tour identifying the plants in our Pine Rockland Garden. Ornamental and edible plants, especially native varieties will be available for purchase to add to your balcony garden.
Maria was a Master Gardener in Texas where she learned about cactus and succulent plants, She is a certified Master Gardener in Florida learning about the South Florida Trees and Shrubs, especially palms, native trees and shrubs, and works closely with the Miami Dade Extension Office and the University of Florida.
